XL—Celebrating Large-Format Photography

George Eastman House is pleased to present XL, a portfolio of images celebrating the work of contemporary artists who are using large-format photography.

Large-format photography offers an extraordinary level of detail, and the images chosen for inclusion in XL bear witness to this.

Fifteen limited edition XL portfolios are being created for sale to friends of George Eastman House. Proceeds will go to support the museum’s continued excellence in exhibition and scholarship, and the stewardship of its collections.

10 International Artists Represented in a Limited Edition Portfolio of Archival Prints

Each of the portfolio’s 20 x 24-inch prints are numbered and signed by the artists. Nine of the ten prints included in XL were produced using Lambda technology. The image by George Tice is a gelatin silver print.

The portfolio is housed in a handcrafted Brewer-Cantelmo clamshell box with blind stamped title. A printed colophon precedes the photographs.

The master printers at Laumont Editions are producing the photographs. All material meets the highest archival standards as specified by the Photographic Materials Group. Information about the paper, ink, and box is included in the portfolio.

The portfolio is in a numbered edition of 15, with each artist receiving an artist’s proof. One additional artist’s proof will be accessioned by George Eastman House as a permanent part of the photography collection.
